Kierstin Bible, B.M., M.M., D.M.A. - Dr. Bible began studying music at the tender age of seven.  She started with the piano in the 2nd grade, moved onto clarinet in the 6th grade (courtesy of a private school scholarship), added the saxophone during her sophomore year and began to sing in her junior year.  Upon graduating from high school, she worked for a year with Augsburg Community Theatre, which solidified her love of performing.  In the fall of 1990 (after earning her Associates Degree with honors in just one year), she moved to Texas to study music at Angelo State University.  During the summer of 1994, she attended Opera in the Ozarks in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  While there, she sang both opera and musical theatre roles and became interested in teaching both classical and contemporary vocal styles.  In 1995 she graduated from ASU and took on her first private students.&  That same year, she began her Master's program at the University of Arkansas, attending on a full graduate assistantship.&  After graduation, Kierstin continued studying and teaching, working with two Christian schools, Halo Sound and the local Christian college, the Institute of Music, Worship and the Arts, as well as giving lessons out of her home.  During this time she worked with students on opera, musical theatre, pop and Christian contemporary music.  She also began directing opera and musical theatre scenes.
She ultimately decided to return to school in 2001 for her Doctorate in Musical Arts at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.  While at UMKC, she solidified her desire to work with students on contemporary and musical theatre styles, as well as classical, and devoted her research to vocal pedagogy (that's the science and anatomy of singing) for these styles.  In the spring of 2004 she finished her coursework and returned with her husband to Northwest Arkansas.  Since then she has reestablished her private studio and has also taught at John Brown University and the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith.  In March of 2005, she completed her doctoral comprehensive exams.  In March of 2006 she performed her final doctoral recital and finished her research in November of 2007.  She hopes to make her research available as a book in the near future.

In the many years that Dr. Bible has studied music, she has gained a considerable amount of performing and teaching experience - overall she has performed in more than twenty operas, musicals and plays (click here for her detailed
performance resume and  professional curriculum vitae).  Her students have won many competitions, including Miss Teen Heart of the Ozarks, the Washington County Fair Talent Competition and Arkansas Kids.  Many of her former students are now studying in college programs and are very grateful for the solid teaching they received under her care.  She is currently working with several talented students on demo CD's and hopes to help launch their careers in the world of contemporary music.

In her voice studio
, Dr. Bible works patiently with each student, basing their instruction in a deep love of music and singing.  Lessons are always enjoyable, and the student comes away with solid pedagogical knowledge.  She uses both science and imagery to help each student understand what is going on and is careful to make sure that no one leaves with unanswered questions.  Her students find her to be passionate about music, sensitive to their individual needs and always willing to lend a sympathetic ear when everyday problems begin to affect their vocal studies.
